OTLEY ‘GREEN BUSINESSMAN’ RECOGNISED WITH REGIONAL WASTE INDUSTRY AWARD

Local businessman and environmentalist Ray Georgeson has been recognised by his professional institution in a recent awards ceremony held at the Annual General Meeting of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) North East Centre in Huddersfield on Friday 20th April. CIWM is the professional body for the waste management and recycling industries and has over 6,000 members.

Ray, who runs his own specialist waste and recycling consulting business RGR as well as a new trade association for the recycling and reprocessing industry (the Resource Association) from his Otley base, won the Henry Daley Award 2011 for best presentation given at a NE Centre meeting that year. The presentation was an analysis of the Government’s new waste strategy for England and was made last summer at the Centre’s meeting at Londonderry Garage in North Yorkshire.

He was presented with a crystal decanter by John Miller, Chairman of the CIWM NE Centre Council.    Ray commented: “I am truly delighted to have been presented with the Henry Daley Award, especially as it is recognition from my professional peers. I would like to thank the CIWM for their great generosity in presenting me with this Award.”
